Title: Exploring the Quantum Frontier: From HEP to Condensed Matter with Quantum Computing

Abstract:

Quantum computing can revolutionize various scientific fields, including high-energy physics (HEP) and condensed matter physics.
During this talk, we will see an overview of recent progress and key challenges in applying quantum computing to these domains.
We will discuss the state of the art in quantum algorithms and hardware relevant to HEP, including efforts towards simulating gauge theories and addressing fundamental questions in particle physics.
Furthermore, we will explore the application of quantum computing to understanding complex quantum many-body systems, focussing on the crucial task of order parameter discovery.
Finally, we will showcase a concrete example of quantum simulation by presenting experimental results on the real-time dynamics of a string in (2+1)-dimensions realized on a superconducting chip.
This demonstration highlights the growing capabilities of quantum devices for tackling challenging problems in fundamental physics.
