IBM Quantum Webinar Series: Unlocking the Potential of Quantum Computing in Healthcare and Life Sciences

Date:

5 February, 2025

Hour:

9:00 - 10:00

Quantum computing offers the potential to transform the pharmaceutical industry by unlocking new possibilities for drug discovery and expediting the development of life-saving treatments. Traditional drug discovery is a time-consuming and costly process, often relying on trial and error. Quantum computing presents a revolutionary approach by simulating complex molecular interactions at an unprecedented level. This could enable researchers to identify novel drug targets, design more effective molecules, and accelerate clinical trials.

Join us for a webinar on quantum computing applications for healthcare and life sciences led by Dr. Gopal Karemore, Global Lead in Quantum for Healthcare and Life Sciences at IBM. Discover how IBM is working with enterprise clients and public institutions to explore real-world use cases, such as drug discovery and other life science applications. Learn how these advancements are shaping the future of quantum computing and its impact on the healthcare industry. This talk will also explore how quantum-centric supercomputing, a hybrid compute architecture combining quantum and classical HPC, is beginning to unlock new possibilities for business use cases on near-term quantum hardware.

Dr. Gopal Karemore leverages over 14 years of experience in applying advanced analytics to complex challenges in pharmaceutical research to help IBM Quantum industry partners develop quantum computing use cases in HCLS. Gopal has a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Copenhagen, with expertise spanning data science, statistics, machine learning, visualization, and quantum computing.

The talk will be approximately 30 minutes, followed by 15 minutes of interactive Q&A.
