Launch of the Road to Practitioner Program
February 19, 2025The first edition of the Road to Practitioner (R2P) Program, a technical training program in Quantum Computing and programming in Qiskit led by BasQ in collaboration with IBM, has started. More than 50 people from business/industry and academia attended the kick-off session of the program, held in Bilbao on 18 February.

On February 18, the Torre Iberdrola in Bilbao hosted the kick-off session of the Road to Practitioner (R2P) Program, an innovative training program in Quantum Computing promoted by BasQ in collaboration with IBM.
The session was attended by more than 50 participants from diverse backgrounds, including professionals from companies and Technology Centres, university and Vocational Training teachers, as well as university students. This diversity reflects the growing interest and commitment of the Basque ecosystem for Quantum Technologies.
The event was attended by Junye Huang, EMEA Workforce & Education Advocate and Global Lead for Coding Challenges at IBM Quantum, who led the session with a theoretical-practical approach. During the day, participants explored the fundamentals of Quantum Computing and programming in Qiskit, the open source framework developed by IBM for programming on quantum computers.
The Road to Practitioner Program is a training program designed by BasQ in collaboration with IBM that aims to provide a solid foundation in Quantum Computing to Basque professionals and academics. Throughout several weekly sessions, participants will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the principles of Quantum Computing, problem solving with quantum algorithms and the use of advanced Qiskit tools. The structure of the programme combines theoretical sessions with practical exercises, thus facilitating the acquisition of applied skills in the quantum domain.
From BasQ we would like to thank all the attendees for their interest and active participation in this first session.
