On November 13, the sixth edition of the Spanish-Swiss Meeting on Innovation took place at the Ramón Areces Foundation auditorium in Madrid.
Organized by the Embassy of Switzerland in Spain and Andorra, the Spanish-Swiss Meeting on Innovation is a platform to foster synergies among representatives and experts from public, academic, and private institutions in both countries. Each year, sessions are held to analyze, exchange knowledge, and disseminate information on a priority theme in which both Spain and Switzerland are leaders in scientific innovation.
This year’s edition focused on the intersection of diplomacy and quantum science. Javier Aizpurua, director of BasQ, presented the BasQ initiative as part of a panel discussion on success stories in quantum science.
Among the attendees were Raimundo Pérez-Hernández y Torra (Director General of the Ramón Areces Foundation), Hanspeter Mock (Swiss Ambassador to Spain and Andorra), Alexander Fasel (State Secretariat of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs), Eva Ortega (Secretary General for Research at the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities), Javier Moreno Fuentes (Vice President of International Relations at the Spanish National Research Council, CSIC), and Borja Izquierdo from the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), among others.
Switzerland was represented by the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation, ETH Zürich, the Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator (GESDA), the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, and QAI Ventures AG.
